My start-up made 3 million in 3 years helping women invest in self care. This is how I did it
Melbourne Mum and entrepreneur Nadia Stamp is taking the Australian beauty industry by storm, with her revolutionary nail product, DIPD.
Like many Australians, Nadia found herself without work during the pandemic, but she took the opportunity to dive into an innovative business idea that instantly took off.
“I was trying to work out how to do my nails because the salons were closed due to lockdowns. I was a huge fan of SNS nails and I realised there was nothing out there in Australia for everyday people to do their own dip powder nails at home,” Stamp said.
Building a business from home
“With my business partner Natalia, we picked the brains of nail technicians and suppliers and made up around 150 nail kits to see what would happen.”
The kits quickly sold out.
Nadia and Natalia were overwhelmed by the number of returning customers, and before they knew it, they had a seven-figure business on their hands… literally.
“We made three million dollars in three years and were making up to $125 thousand dollars some months. People were just going crazy for the product,” Stamp said.
“I was hand wrapping products, decanting liquids and staying up to 3 AM in my spare room trying to keep up with the demand.”
Creating an Aussie-first nail product
DIPD is Australia’s first dip powder home kit nail product and the only product manufactured in Australia.
For less than $200, women can achieve multiple salon-quality manicures with no UV light from the comfort of their own home.
DIPD uses a dental grade dipping powder and high-quality liquids to guarantee no cracking or chipping for weeks.
In the early days of DIPD, Nadia fell pregnant with her daughter.
She has been managing the juggle of running her business while being a Mum and keeping perfectly manicured nails that withstand the endless washing and cleaning that comes with motherhood territory.
“So many Mums tell us how much they love DIPD because they don’t have to find time to go to a salon. They can do their nails at home once the kids are in bed,” Ms Stamp said.
“And trust me when I say our product is durable. It is absolutely mum-proof and a really cost-effective way to have nice nails without the expensive salon visits.”
DIPD also regularly releases new colours keeping across the fashion and beauty trends, and offers tailored advice and tutorials for their customers.
