Zeller is making a play to put an end to small business payment pain by launching an all-in-one terminal it says could save businesses over $2000 a year.

The device bundles payments and POS into one system, cutting subscriptions and admin for business owners.

Key points

  • Zeller has launched a new all-in-one EFTPOS and POS terminal
  • The company claims small businesses could save more than $2,000 a year in fees
  • The device bundles payments and POS into one system, cutting subscriptions and admin

Zeller’s research estimates that the average small business spends more than $2,100 a year on payment terminals and POS software. It’s a friction-filled journey with systems often spread across multiple providers.

Zeller CEO and co-founder Ben Pfisterer says their new system is designed to strip all that back.

“The Australian payments landscape has become more complex than it needs to be. Businesses are often forced into ecosystems with ongoing fees and limited flexibility,” Pfisterer said.

“We built Zeller T1x to challenge that — giving merchants a simple, affordable alternative that works out of the box, integrates with the systems they already use, and enables them to run more efficiently.”

Cutting the ‘hidden costs’ of getting paid

While ever-increasing transaction fees tend to get most of the bad press, Zeller is betting that small business owners are beginning to look beyond the headlines to focus on the full cost to their business of getting paid.

“Every dollar matters for small businesses right now,” Pfisterer said.

“What we’re hearing from Zeller’s 100,000+ customers nationally is that it’s not just transaction fees — it’s the stack of ongoing costs that add up.”

Built for tradies, solists and microbusiness

Zeller has set its sights on the millions of Aussies selling face-to-face as potential customers, with everyone from tradies and market stallholders to hospitality operators and service businesses in the crosshairs.

Timing for the new product launch couldn’t be better, with many small businesses under serious pressure and looking for quick wins to protect their margins. The launch also lands as big changes emerge in the payments landscape, including the Reserve Bank’s move to scrap card surcharges, which puts even more focus on how businesses absorb the cost of getting paid.

It’s a win-win situation for Zeller. The company’s betting that if you can make payments cheaper and easier, small business owners will jump on it.
