Regional Heroes is back for 2025, and Business Builders, alongside our partner Vodafone Business, is once again on the hunt for Australia’s most inspiring businesses operating outside the big smoke.

Are you a regional legend doing big things in your community? Or do you know a local gem that deserves their moment in the spotlight? Then we want to hear from you.

From bustling country bakeries to family farms, surfside yoga studios to outback mechanics—this is your chance to shine a light on the hard-working businesses that are the heart of regional Australia.

“Regional businesses don’t just serve their communities, they shape them,” says Cec Busby, editor of Business Builders. “From Drought Angels supporting farmers in crisis, to local legends like Mollydooker Wines and Birth Beat flying the flag for innovation, we’ve seen time and again how these businesses punch well above their weight. Regional Heroes is our way of shining a light on their passion, resilience and the massive impact they have—often with very little recognition.”

What’s in it for the winner?

Aside from bragging rights, the Regional Hero 2025 will take home a prize package worth $50,000, including:

A feature segment on our national TV show on the Seven Network

A hero article on our website and a shout-out in our newsletter

A slick social video to share far and wide

A boost across Business Builders’ social channels

Which all adds up to a whole heap of well-earned exposure.

“We know regional business owners don’t do it for the fame,” says Busby. “But a little love goes a long way, and being seen on national TV and across our platforms can open doors to new customers, partners and growth.”

Competition dates to note:

“Over the years, we’ve met some truly incredible business owners through this campaign,” says Cec. “People who are innovating with limited resources, building community spirit, and showing the rest of the country just how bold and brilliant regional business can be. Because out in regional Australia, small businesses aren’t just businesses—they’re local legends. So let’s give ’em the recognition they deserve.”
