Australia a nation of small business fans, finds Fiverr report
One bright side to the pandemic is that Australians have a growing connection to local business. According to a report by Fiverr, the connection is so strong, almost six out of ten Aussies say they would refuse to visit a big business with the same offering. They prefer to support a small business owner instead.
Aussies embrace shop local
71 per cent of Australians say their connections to local businesses have been strengthened during the pandemic, with almost two thirds (63 per cent) shopping locally. Increasingly good news for small business owners is that 97 per cent of these local shoppers plan to continue the habit post-pandemic.
Sixty one per cent of consumers say they now feel like they know their local business owners and have a greater connection to their local area.
“Australian small businesses have been some of the hardest hit during the pandemic, with many set to feel the lasting effects for months and years to come”, commented Peggy de Lange, VP of International Expansion at Fiverr. “Despite this, they have played a pivotal role in supporting Australians through lockdowns and immense challenges by continuing to provide the high-quality products and services they’re so well known and loved for.”
Fiverr Billboard comp to support small business
To provide support to Australian small businesses recovering from the devastating impacts of the COVID pandemic, Fiverr is offering five lucky small business owners the chance to share in $250,000 worth of outdoor billboard advertising space together with professional designed billboard creative.

This is why we are providing them with the opportunity to win a share in $250,000 worth of free advertising space and professionally designed creative”, said de Lange.
The winning small businesses will be gifted much-needed exposure in high profile locations in Richmond, Southbank, South Melbourne and Bentleigh in Melbourne, Parramatta, Canterbury, Greystanes and Rozelle in Sydney, and South Brisbane, Kangaroo Point, Palm Beach, Fortitude Valley, Chermside, Coorparoo in Queensland/Brisbane.
