Amazon Business lands in Australia to help small biz save big
Here’s a number that’ll make your wallet wince: a whopping 9 in 10 Aussie small and medium businesses are feeling the pinch from rising operating costs. And according to fresh research from YouGov, more than 80 per cent of them have been forced to bump up their prices by an average of 13 per cent over the past three years just to stay afloat.
Enter Amazon Business, which has just launched in Australia and promises to take some of the pressure off the cost of doing business by making business buying easier, smarter and more affordable.
Whether you’re running a café, a plumbing business, a marketing agency or a side hustle from your spare room, Amazon Business is designed to help you get the stuff you need without blowing the budget.
What’s Amazon Business, then?
Good question. It’s like regular Amazon, but built for businesses. So you’ll find plenty of perks designed to make life easier and cheaper for busy business owners. Think exclusive business-only pricing that can save you up to 10 per cent on everyday items, and even bigger savings when you buy in bulk (you only need to order two of something to unlock a discount). If you’re new to the platform, you’ll also score 30 per cent off your first order—up to $100—if you sign up before 30 June.
Business Prime gives you faster delivery and the ability to share accounts with your team, so everything keeps ticking along nicely. You can also add multiple users to your account, set spending limits, and build in approval workflows.
There are smart tools to help you shop more sustainably too, with filters that spotlight eco-friendly products backed by third-party certifications. And when tax time rolls around, you’ll have access to clear, downloadable invoices to keep the ATO happy.
Lena Zak, Amazon Business Country Manager, reckons this couldn’t have come at a better time:
“We know that 78 per cent of small businesses have had to implement cost-cutting measures in recent years. As operating costs keep rising, Amazon Business can help take some of that pressure off with meaningful savings and the convenience of our delivery network.”
Just in time for EOFY
It’s no accident the launch has landed just ahead of the end of financial year—when many small business owners are re-stocking supplies or upgrading their gear.
“We want Aussie businesses to be able to focus on what matters most—serving their customers and growing,” says Zak. “We’re excited to now offer this service to help them do just that.”
Sellers, there’s something in it for you too.
If you’re an Aussie seller on Amazon, Amazon Business is a great way to reach a whole new crowd—business customers.
With Fulfilment by Amazon (FBA), sellers can store their stock in Amazon’s warehouse, and the team takes care of the packing, postage and delivery.
A global player now playing local
Amazon Business isn’t new to the game. It first launched in the US back in 2015 and now serves over 8 million customers around the world—everyone from tiny startups to 96 of the Fortune 100. Now, Aussie businesses can get in on the action.
So if you’re looking to save time, spend smarter, and take a bit of stress out of running your biz, Amazon Business might be worth a squiz. Ready to give it a crack?
Head to amazon.com.au/business to register for a free Amazon Business account and grab that 30 per cent EOFY discount while it’s going!
