How to get your socials ready for sales season
As the year comes to a close, it’s important for businesses to reflect on their social media strategies and focus on key marketing dates to close the year, explains Amani Youssef, CEO of So Social.
Upcoming social media key marketing dates include: Black Friday and Boxing Day. Black Friday marks the beginning of the holiday shopping season and is known for its massive sales and discounts across various retail stores and online platforms.
In the past, we have seen flash sales do well during this period! Flash sales create a sense of urgency and lead to quick sales. Percentage of flat discounts is another great way to incentivise an audience on social.
How to take advantage of the sales season
Boxing Day is the biggest sale retail day in Australia; it’s a great idea to continue your sales from Black Friday to Boxing Day, as social audiences expect to grab a bargain during this period. In the past, we have seen clearance sales do well on Boxing Day. Offering significant discounts on clearance items will attract those bargain hunters and, at the same time, help you get rid of old stock.
After planning your end-of-year key dates and sales, it’s time to focus on analysing the year that has been. Some key areas to focus on as the year winds down include determining whether or not you met the social media goals that you set for your business at the beginning of the year. If not, analyse the reasons why and make necessary adjustments for next year.
What worked last time?
Look back at the content and promotions you have shared throughout the year. Identify what worked well and resonated with your audience, and what didn’t perform as expected. Use this information to shape your content strategy for the upcoming year.
Use the downtime when and if your business is closed to familiarise yourself with emerging platforms, new features, and changes in algorithms. This knowledge will help you adapt your strategy and stay ahead of the game.
My final tip is to ensure you’ve planned in advance so you don’t miss any important key dates!
